I was contacted by a Deal or No Deal casting director to come and try out for a new game show called 20Q. It is based off of the hit home game. They also have an online play at home version, but it is played in reverse (opposite of the TV game show), you think of something and they try to guess what your thinking try it HERE. I am not one of those people who watch game shows or play board games. I was a little leary about it. The only show I ever really watch is Deal or No Deal and I tried to tell him I'm a REALLY good suitcase picker (LOL)...but they are on hiatus right now. He convinced me that I could do this new show. So he told me to get some friends and come on down and make a day of it.
I invited my sister-in-law (a school teacher), my sister and my cousin. They gave us a list of clues and we had to guess what it was. IT WAS HARD! My sister-in-law was the only one who made it to the second round. I got a few of them right...which made me feel pretty good because it was timed and I don't do well with the whole test thing, not to mention most people only got 1 right.
My sister-in-law drove with me...but they didn't let me wait in the room and watch her, they said that she'd be done in about 2 hours. Okay...here's the problem, I don't live in L.A. and that area was really unfamiliar to me (not the best neighborhood.) It was almost 100 degrees, my air conditioner was broken and I had to find somewhere to go. I finally ended up going to Universal Studios City Walk and walked around. It was pretty entertaining (I'm always up for a new adventure.) I headed back around 6:30 and she was done.
She said she didn't do so well DARN IT! I was hoping she would at least get on the show. There's still a chance though. It will definitely be a big hit show. Make sure you watch it and see if you can answer the questions. Don't tell me if you do good because I don't want to feel stupid!
We had a good time and it was another thing that I did COMPLETELY OUT OF MY COMFORT ZONE. Stay tuned for more adventures........

Taping Day: Nickelodeon's BrainSurge
We went down to LA on Monday...Elijah and Adam got to be on their first T.V. game show. Nickelodeon's new show BrainSurge is due to air this summer. The boys were so excited that they got to take the day off of school. But that excitement quickly fizzled, they had to go to school on the set. We sat around the green room eating, eating and eating. Oh, did I mention we ATE?
How come whenever you're bored and there's food around, you keep munching away? By the time they finished school we were stuffed.
It was a VERY LONG DAY. We got there at about 10:00 a.m. and the boy's didn't finish until about 8:00 p.m. A word of advice for you parents who want to get your kids into acting...you better have tons of patience.
We were talking to a dad who does this all the time for his daughter and he said that last week he spent about 30 hrs. just sitting in his car waiting for his daughter. NO THANKS! I'm pretty patient but that is ridiculous. It was a really fun experience for the boys. You are probably wondering how they did? Sorry people...but we signed legal papers saying that we can't give out any information until after the show airs. So I will tell you when it's on and you can watch my two "little" guys answer some very difficult questions.
For all of you parents who think that this show is just for kids, you're wrong...make sure you watch it with them. It'll be an exciting family friendly show. I even had a hard time answering some of the questions. I predict that BrainSurge will be an instant BIG HIT!

Nickelodeon Audition
While searching on Craig's List, looking for a job for Josh. I stumbled across an open casting call for a new Nickelodeon Game Show. It was asking for kids ages 11-14, who are fun, intelligent, talkative and competitive. They said to send pictures...I thought, just like every mom probably thinks, I KNOW my son meets all of those qualifications...and he's cute! I sent in three pictures of Elijah...

and they said, "Come on down"...wait, that's the Price is Right, they said, "Come in for an audition."
Today at 4:00 p.m. Elijah will audition for a new game show called, "BrainSurge." We've never gone to an audition before, but I'm sure there's going to be hundreds of kids there...and mom's who think their son is PERFECT for this. I'm anxious to see if the whole "stage mom" thing is true. I'll just be sitting back laughing and trying to write some more of my book.
Anthony and Adam are coming too and after the audition we are going to go down to Melrose and walk around...the store's there are really cool. I wish we had money to buy stuff, but it'll be fun anyway. It's nice to take our little sheltered Orange County boys down to the big city. I'll let you know how the whole thing goes. Wish him luck!!

Now all I have to do is pick a day. How awesome is that present?! When I take pictures...I just guess at the settings and hope it comes out okay. Now I'll be able to learn details and the reasons behind it.
It's like learning a whole new language! The best part...it's HANDS ON, which I'm much better at than just reading from a book that doesn't make much sense to me. Now when I take my trip up to Utah on the 23rd, I can take AMAZING pictures and not doubt what I'm doing.
I've narrowed it down to two specific dates, one of the days teaches you the most, but I really need to learn about night shooting (I'm REALLY bad at it), so I'm kind of torn. I think I'll go with the day shoot and just pick her brain about night time settings...I'm kind of pushy that way.
I can't wait...it's the PERFECT gift!!
