Most of us take technology for granted. I can remember when there were no computers/cell phones/I Pads/I Pods. I know that makes me sound ancient, but just think about it...it was only back in the 80's.
We used to spend our time playing family games, (Trouble, Operation, Candy Land-my personal fav) and actually played outside (Hide-n-Seek, Mother May I, Red Light Green Light, Kick Ball etc.) We even walked to and from school, and would never think of yelling at our parents for being late to pick us up.
AWWWE the good ol' days!
Fast forward to this past Friday. We spent the entire day moving into our new home and scheduled the cable company to be at our new home on Saturday. The clock ticked past the time they were supposed to be here. My hubby called & found out that...surprise...they had messed up our order and accidentally canceled it. After about an hour and several transfers, the best that they could do was re-schedule it for Tuesday.
Now lets count...Saturday (1), Sunday (2), Monday (3) Tuesday (1/2 day). Okay that's three and a half days of living in the stone age...no television, emails, Facebook, Blog, Twitter, Hubpages or phone, just silence.
I went back in time...and I didn't like it one bit!
The good ol' days no longer seemed so good. I felt lost, disconnected from the world. I was sitting in a cave. The earthquake happened here & I couldn't even find out where it was centered, what the magnitude & the damage was. I felt like I was in a third world country, isolated and out of touch.
Okay so I exaggerate a little...but you try turning everything completely off for three and a half days.
You know you couldn't do it.
We are slaves to technology. We no longer enjoy, not knowing what is going on around the world & in our friends & families lives every minute of the day.
Our lives have become a "Real World Reality Show" for the whole world to see.
I'm happy to say that I received a knock at my door on Tuesday afternoon. He was dressed in a tan button down work shirt, navy blue pants, with a heavily loaded tool belt strapped to his waste & carrying a ladder. He had a bold bright red patch on his shirt which read those three magical words............
Time Warner Cable.
The cable guy was my knight in shining armor...coming to rescue me from my cave.

Stop The Drama
Lately I feel like I've been getting caught in a lot of drama. I'm not one of those people that enjoy sitting around gossiping & complaining about people. I think that's why I've always found it easier to just hang out with the guys, talk about sports and crack jokes.
Lately however, I've gotten thrown into the middle of a lot of crap. I try not to get upset and sucked into it...but it's hard. I even started breaking out! That's when I said, "Zit's is where I draw the line!"
So yesterday I decided to stop adding fuel to the fire by joining in. I made a decision to take the high road. I sent out an email to everyone explaining a few things that I knew they probably didn't want to hear. But the bottom line is, everyone can sit around complaining, talking about each other and getting mad, but at the end of the day nothing's changed except making a lot of people bitter and angry towards each other.
My email was very nice but made a point. I received a couple positive feedbacks thanking me for putting it out there in a nice way. Tonight we have a team dinner...we'll see if anythings changed. I definitely will stick to my plan. I might get excluded because of it, but I will feel less stressed and better about myself for not joining in not to mention...maybe my face will clear up before the weekend! Gosh...being a girl sucks sometimes...we are all SO DRAMA!!

Prayer Requests
Okay, so here's the thing...every week I put together a prayer request and send it out to everyone to pray for each other (e-mail addresses are kept hidden via BCC). I can't tell you how many people are in need of prayer right now! So I decided to open it up to EVERYONE. Prayer is POWERFUL...no matter how small or large the need, let others pray for you.

A Piece of Cake

A little boy is telling his grandma how everything is going wrong.....school, family problems, severe health problems, etc. Meanwhile, Grandma is baking a cake. She asks her grandson if he would like a snack, which, of course, he does.
"Here, have some cooking oil."
"Yuck" says the boy.
"How about a couple raw eggs?"
"Gross, Grandma!"
"Would you like some flour then? Or maybe baking soda?"
"Grandma, those are all yucky!"
"Yes, all those things seem bad all by themselves, but when they are put together in the right way, they make a wonderfully delicious cake!
God works the same way. Many times we wonder why he would let us go through such bad and difficult times, but God knows that when He puts these things all in His order, they always work for good!
We just have to trust Him and, eventually, they will all make something wonderful!" God is crazy about you. He sends you flowers every spring and a sunrise every morning.
Whenever you want to talk, He'll listen. He can live anywhere in the universe, and He chose your heart. I hope your day is a piece of cake!
