What Are the Odds?

I hadn't seen my dad and step-mom in a couple of years. They live in Reno, NV and aren't able to come down here to California very often. And unfortunately with our busy schedules, we're not able to go visit them. That's when I came up with a brilliant idea. My dad, LOVES football, so I told him he should come down and see Elijah play this year. He agreed!

We planned the date, (made sure it would be during one of our 'tough' games) and had it all set up for 3 weeks from the date of our phone call. In the meantime, I scheduled my outpatient laporascopy surgery, thinking I'd be fine once they got here. But as you saw from my last post...what are the odds that I'd have complications?

So, the day they got here, my pains started & I was back in the hospital for the ENTIRE time they were here. Don't get me wrong, I'm SO thankful that they were here to take care of my family. They were able to see my son's game, take pictures of him before homecoming, and spend time with all of them...BUT, C'MON, REALLY? I didn't get to hang out with them & visit or anything, (yes, that was said in a very whiny voice-poor me!lol!) .

Guess I'll just have to use that as leverage to get them down here again...even though my dad is a nervous wreck in all this traffic.
But really, 'What are the odds?'

Didn't Happen As Planned

Well my plans kind of fell through, nobody made it here in time to go to Long Beach to watch the Red Bull Flugtag.

We didn't make it down to the beach early enough to secure a bonfire pit. I called my sister who lives 45 min. away to tell her that we would still bbq at the beach but NO bonfire. Then my hubby just randomly called his friend to see how the surf was today & he said that they had a pit (they got there at 6:00 am to save it.) He said we were welcome to join them...so we are still on for the bonfire!

Besides, we'll get there just in time to watch the birds, dolphins & seals feeding (usually around 5 or 6 pm).

I took these shots at Jalama Beach in the evening (double click to view larger)

Sometimes I guess it's kind of nice to just relax.

Let the Fun Begin

How much can you squeeze into a weekend?

Hmmmm....I'll let you know.

I actually added something else to our day tomorrow. The guys are surfing in the a.m. then we'll head to the Red Bull Flugtag in Long Beach, CA. This is a fun event where people make human powered homemade flying devices & launch them off a 30ft high pier over the Long Beach harbor. It should be pretty funny!

Highlights

After we'll go back to Huntington Beach for a big family beach bonfire/BBQ.

My hubby wasn't too excited about more things to do tomorrow, but my niece & nephew are only here till Wednesday, so I told him to "suck it up & have some fun!"

Memorial Weekend at the Beach

Living in sunny Orange County, CA., right by the beach makes me feel as though I'm on a constant vacation.

That is...until that annoying little thing called work gets in the way!

So whenever holidays arrive, I just have to grab my bike, and head down to the beach.

These busy weekends can be a bit of a problem for us locals. The traffic & crowd gets ridiculous, not to mention the bathroom lines!

MAIN STREET & PCH-by the pier...SEE!

I usually try to stay away from Main St., but this morning, I had my Zumba class and had to fight the crowds...even the class was jam packed.

There was the cutest little guy in there. He was probably about 70 or older. Jumping around, flapping his arms to the music yelling, "YEAH...ZUMBA....YEAH!" Then the whole class would scream out...he kept motivating us. If a 70 year old can hang through the whole class & be so happy, I can too! I love seeing happy older people like that, it just makes me smile.

I wanted to go to the back of the class, grab my phone & sneak a picture of him...I was too chicken though.

So this Memorial weekend will be spent having friends over for a BBQ, bike riding & maybe taking pics of my family surfing and enjoying our amazing sunsets.

I love holidays!

Spring Is In The Air

There is nothing better than having a Church BBQ in the park in the springtime! I couldn't stop snapping pictures of the kids picking wildflowers for their mom.

Just simply breathtaking...this is why I love photography!
