Don't Make Me Go Karate Kid On You!

Last weekend, after Anthony did the Pastor Chuck Smith Memorial Paddle Out and we walked down to watch Adam & Elijah's beach flag football team play (that was our first time watching and will be another blog post in itself…drama!) We decided to walk back to the pier again to get Ruby's for lunch. While we were walking back, there was this pelican just hanging out on the railing.
Me: "Hey, why don't you get really close to it so I can take your picture? Hubby: "Okay." There's not very much he refuses me anymore after almost 14 years of marriage when it comes to taking fun pics or new adventures, well…except for going to haunted houses during Halloween. I tried and tried but he won't budge, he hates being startled.
So my hubby cautiously inched his way up as the pelican was primping himself. Once he got really close, I started snapping away.
All of a sudden the pelican seemed to notice that someone was right next to him. He slowly turned around and looked at him, which made my hubby quickly back away…and everyone walking on the pier started cracking up, including my hubby.
Then Mr. Pelican slowly assumed this position as if to say,

"BACK UP BUDDY! DON'T MAKE ME GO KARATE KID ON YOU!!!"
He turned around with one final look before settling in to enjoy the cool, foggy, fall beach day.
"STOP ANNOYING ME PEOPLE!!!"

Just another fun day at the beach here in Orange County!

The REAL World's Kickin My Butt!

(searching to notice more of these lifetime moment)
I'm exhausted! My boss's friend needed help at her office last week and all of next week. After my recent $800.00 car repair bill, I needed the extra money so I said I'd do it. But with my insomnia & working a FULL day between the two jobs, I'm WIPED OUT! I got home from work & took a 3 hour nap until 8:00 pm & then couldn't sleep all night.

I'll admit it...I'm spoiled, with my normal 6 hour work days & Monday's off. I have a whole new appreciation for my schedule!

Being a single mother for years, I worked full time and never thought anything of it...just did what I had to do. But now that I'm doing it again, "I yigh yigh!"

Funny how we take our life, situation, health, family, etc. for granted until it's taken away. My new motto,
"BE THANKFUL!"
(seeking to enjoy all that's going on around me)

Didn't Happen As Planned

Well my plans kind of fell through, nobody made it here in time to go to Long Beach to watch the Red Bull Flugtag.

We didn't make it down to the beach early enough to secure a bonfire pit. I called my sister who lives 45 min. away to tell her that we would still bbq at the beach but NO bonfire. Then my hubby just randomly called his friend to see how the surf was today & he said that they had a pit (they got there at 6:00 am to save it.) He said we were welcome to join them...so we are still on for the bonfire!

Besides, we'll get there just in time to watch the birds, dolphins & seals feeding (usually around 5 or 6 pm).

I took these shots at Jalama Beach in the evening (double click to view larger)

Jullien surfin' & watching the pelicans

Sometimes I guess it's kind of nice to just relax.
