Before watching last nights American Idol Final Performances, I thought that Lee DeWyze was really coming out of his shell and might pull off the upset. But then I changed my mind.
So you want to know who really won?
Crystal Bowersox belted out every song to perfection. She gave it everything she had & it paid off. She sang, "Me & Bobby McGee", and then, "Black Velvet."
If I have one criticism, it isn't directed at Crystal, but her stylists. Please stop trying to glamorize her (i.e. Black Velvet dress). It was just wrong. Leave her alone & let her dress in "earth mama" clothes. It is her!
The last song, Crystal came out and gave the performance of a lifetime. When she sang her final song (which will be her single if she wins), Up to the Mountain, I was moved to tears. It wasn't just her voice, which is absolutely incredible...that song, the words, the emotion she put into it...that song!
Is that absolutely the most amazing vocal?
I felt that Lee did have a tough time. He sang, "The Boxer", "Everybody Hurts" and then a song originally done by U2, "Beautiful Day". He never should have had to sing a U2 song. But he just didn't bring it on the other songs either.
He was a bundle of nerves, which I guess is part of his appeal.
When the final votes came in..............................................................................................................
Your next American Idol is.......................................................................................
Crystal Bowersox?...................................................................................................
NO...............................................................IT'S LEE DeWYZE.
If the voters based it on last nights performance, I think they got it wrong. What do you think?

American Idol-Who Goes Home 5/6/09

WHAT? How did they show the sneak preview of the final two with four people still left?
Tonights performance was a rock theme, with Slash formerly of Guns N Roses, presently from Velvet Revolver. He took the contestants to a famous club, "The Roxy" on the Sunset Strip to practice, helping them to get a feel of the whole "real rock" scene.
I don't know if he gave a lot of advice to everyone, because I think he should have told Danny Gokey to change his song...the high notes were difficult to listen to. I hate saying that because I'm a Gokey fan, but I yigh yigh, it was BAD! He will not go home though.
I thought Allison Iraheta's song was good. The judges didn't like it, but I have to disagree. People might not like the fact that she was disagreeing and even corrected Simon regarding the choices she had for a song. She will probably be in the bottom two, but will not go home.
So that leaves Adam Lambert and Kris Allen. Adam was absolutely unbelievable with his version of Led Zeppelin's song, "Whole Lotta Love (click to see original version)." It was PERFECT, he didn't seem to be screaming as much either (Slash actually gave him good advice to stay in his lower register).
Kris Allen seemed to be awkward and uncomfortable performing his rock song. He also was weak in his duet performance with Danny. Kris Allen will be going home tonight.
As far as your sneak preview of the final two...ADAM & ALLISON! They sang as though they've been on stage together forever. It will be a great final!

I have to say that I love that "Rat Pack" era of music. The big band playing behind the crooners...very cool and sexy! Tonight American Idol brought in a surprise celebrity to help the singers, Jaime Foxx! He seemed to give good advice because all of the contestants sounded GREAT!
But since someone has to go, I'll give you my weekly pick. Now this is a hard one for me tonight, but let's start with my favorite...drum roll...wait for it....Danny Gokey! I thought he was absolutely AMAZING! Adam Lambert and Allison Iraheta used their powerhouse voices to bring the crowd to their feet (but for some reason it seemed like the crowd was on their feet all night). I think Chris Allen was a little boring tonight. Matt Giraud has a strong voice but seems a bit fearful each week. I always think he's going to cry when the judges say something mean. Watch next time...you'll see what I mean.
My pick for the bottom two is Matt Giraud and Allison Iraheta. I don't think Allison deserves to be in the bottom again, but I think the whole "lack of personality" thing that the judges point out every week, along with Simon's comment will pursuade the public.
Matt Giraud will be the next to leave American Idol. There you have it...make sure you leave your pick and we'll see who's right!

American Idol-These Two Go Home?
CLICK HERE to see 5/5/09 Prediction
What can I say...once again Adam Lambert steals the show! His voice, stage presence, originality, Elvis Presley good looks and humbleness all rolled up into one package makes him unbeatable. Chris Allen, never my favorite (I think he's forgettable) is getting surprisingly better week after week. His outstanding performance tonight sealed his safety. Danny Gokey was good and is always consistent, he will stay. Allison Iraheta's voice was incredible but it was not one of my favorite performances, I found it a little boring. She will still definitely be in the final with Adam.
Now which two Idols will go home after last weeks surprising save? Unfortunately I think Matt Giraud will go this week. His performance wasn't bad, but he seemed to be singing for his life (trying to hard) but not really hitting the mark. Lil Rounds will be the other one to go home. She has been getting worse each week.
The public (YOU) will probably want to show the judges that YOU decided last week who you didn't want and will be anxious to show the judges who's still in charge of this competition.
Anoop Desai will survive one final week. So there you have it...let me know your opinion and we'll see who's right tomorrow!

Adam Lambert was amazing as usual tonight. I don't think anyone will be able to beat him. His voice is ridiculous, showmanship amazing and always original. Allison Iraheta will be the final girl standing and will be battling it out with Adam at the end. I feel that Anoop "Dog" Desai or Lil Rounds will be the next to go home, however I always seem to forget about Chris Allen...he is forgettable and had a weak performance. I thought Matt Giraud did better than the judges gave him credit for. Danny Gokey will be in the final three, he is consistently good.
There's my predictions this week...let me know what you think!

Who Went Home on American Idol?
For 4/14/09 Update CLICK HERE...
My prediction earlier today was almost correct...but I'm happy to say ALMOST! Michael Sarver was saved and Alexis Grace went home. It was another cruel episode where the judges said, "We're thinking about saving you." They already told her last night that they hated her song choice...then they tell her to sing it again to save herself. WHAT? Can you say nerve racking? Of course she did terrible. Several notes were off key and she was obviously trying too hard to make the song sound better.
To be perfectly honest, I don't think it was only the song...her personality was very boring and flat last night. She didn't portray that likable quality that she had presented on previous shows. Not to mention Randy Jackson couldn't even remember her name and called her "Allison" as in Allison Iraheta, who was actually already in the bottom three standing there awaiting her fate.
After Alexis finished singing, Simon told her that they weren't going to save her. I can't begin to tell you how much this new rule irritates me. Two slaps in the face...let's just kick them while their down! Once again I have to tell you that my idea is better. Tell them they're voted off, play the music and have one of the judges jump up and say, "We're going to save you!" The show will still have the suspense, drama, and no more contestant humiliation.
There is definitely a lot of media drama going on. Now there's even talk of the American Idol result show being rigged. I guess American Idol needs to keep up the big ratings this year. In Hollywood, the more you're talked about, positive or negative, the more people tune in.

Is the New American Idol Rule Mean?
Tonight we got to see the new American Idol Rule in action. Do you think it's mean? First the contestant gets rejected by America and then they get to stand in front of the American Idol judges and get discarded again~poor Jorge Nunez (he should have stayed over Anoop "Dog" Desai) and Jasmine Murray. They were the first to be subjected to this new form of humiliation.
Here's the new rule for those of you who haven't heard: If someone gets voted off, the judges can save them. However, they ALL have to agree on the same person and they can only save 1 person the entire season. The following week after the judges save someone, the bottom two people go home.
Here's the mean part...they make the person who just got voted off sing again (normal routine for Idol). Then Ryan Seacrest, puts them in front of the judges and asks, "Do you want to save him/her?" One judge says, "We all discussed it and I'm sorry but it's the end of the road for you." OUCH...rejected two times in one show.
C'mon, we all know that they are not going to save someone this early into the show! Here's a better way of doing it, have the person sing and after they show the pictures of their journey, the American Idol music starts to play. They either end the show (I think the person will know that they didn't get saved), or as the music starts to play, one of the judges says, "Wait a minute, hold on, Simon Cowell has something he wants to say." The music immediately stops (oooh the drama), silence in the studio, everyone holds their breathe..."We all decided to save you!"
See how easy that was. The contestants didn't have to face double rejection, and American Idol gets to achieve the anticipation and tense televison drama that they love so much.
What do you think? Besides the fact that I'm obviously a little obsessed with the show.
