Today after church I told my hubby I wanted to go down to the beach, grab a slice of my fav pizza & sit out in the pavilion area next to the pier and just relax. With all that's gone on, the beach just seems to fade all my stress away. It was a little breezy and the air was crisp, but it felt perfect. I don't know what it is about the beach...the crashing waves, palm trees, kites flying overhead, or just the general laid back environment that slows down the time, cares and worry's of life.
Today however was extra special. As we sat down, there were three guys who had brought various drums to have a beach jam session. The rhythmic beats of the drums adding to the calming feel of the crashing waves. As we ate, the group began to grow. Random people of all ages seemed to pop up out of nowhere & join in, adding more drum varieties, tambourines, and large shakers.
We finished eating & laid on the grass, staring up at the clouds, palm trees and pelicans gracefully soaring overhead. Allowing the music to eventually lull us away from all the built up tension. I told my hubby, "We haven't actually relaxed like this since Hawaii." It's strange how I live so close to the beach and don't take advantage of it. I'm going to make a point of enjoying it more.
As we left I recorded it to share with all of you. I didn't want you to miss out on the magic of the moment. Enjoy!

Aloha
I'm in Maui, Hawaii! I thought I'd be posting everyday, but I haven't had any time!
We got here last Tuesday...hmmm where to begin?
We've driven the road to Hana (absolutely incredible.) Taken the "off limits" road to circle the island (not the smartest thing, but I thought they were just trying to keep tourists away & I was afraid I'd miss something good!) It turned out to be the "ugly" desert, desolate side of the island. With a bumpy old single lane dirt road for MILES, oh well...
We came to Maui to watch my son's football game-which they won 48-10! Elijah played an awesome game at Linebacker. He didn't get as much offense as normal (running back,) but that will come later I'm sure.
Today we went to a Maui church, which was just like the one in the movie Soul Surfer. Loved how it wasn't enclosed. Then we just hung out and body surfed, putted on the golf course in front of our condo & had a relaxing day.
Tomorrow I'm going to attempt to paddle board...looks like fun, we'll see how easy it is! Wish I hadn't watched Shark Week before I came here!:(
Feeling a little nervous!
Here's a few 'Phone' pictures until I can get home and download the good camera shots!

Maui, Hawaii...Here I Come! Suggestions PLEASE?
The last time I went to Hawaii (Maui) was about 7 years ago when my son, Jullien's, 8th grade, undefeated Pop Warner Football team beat the crap out of the Hawaiian team (actually felt bad for the other team-it was a slaughter!) We spent most of the time surfing (well my hubby & Jullien did-I took photo's.)
Now, we get to watch my youngest son, Elijah's, High School team play their season opener...a total GIFT & BLESSING-read how it happened (HERE).
This trip, I want to see everything! I felt like I missed so much site seeing. I wanted to drive the Road to Hana, but I get so severely car sick & heard it was a ridiculously windy road, so I chose not to...but regretted it ever since. Now, armed with my trusty 'Wrist Bands with a Pressure Point Ball' to alleviate the sickness, I'm compiling a list of MUST SEE places/hikes/things to do. This is where all my wonderful bloggy friends come in (YES...THAT'S YOU!) Please leave any suggestions of places you've been to & loved in Maui. We'll be there for a week. THANKS & remember the more info/idea's the better, I'm an adventure girl & love exploring.

Girls Surf Too!
Girls have become amazing surfers over the years. I love taking pictures off the pier-especially during the U.S. Open Competition. Let summer begin-beach style! This years competition will begin July 30th through August 7th.

He's Coming Home!
HUGE SIGH........
I was able to get a flight for Jullien today to get back home (April 19th-May 4th) so his mama can take care of him! I didn't even realize the extent of the weight I was carrying until I booked the flight. It was just complete & total relief...as if I had been carrying an incredible load.
Funny how we don't even realize the stress that we walk around with. It somehow just becomes a normal part of everyday life these days.
So he'll be here for 2 weeks, fly back to NY for court on the 12th, then to Utah on the 23rd to hopefully get an immediate implant at the dental office that my mom works at. That's the plan for now anyways.
The sun seems to be shining in my little corner of the world again!
life's waves may come & toss us...but God's love continues to shine through

Unexpected Flight
While shooting a football game a few weeks back in Newport Beach, CA, I noticed these two ducks just cruising around the field enjoying the warm, sunny day, completely unafraid of the action that was going on around them.

They took off, flying low across the field.
I thought they were going to land in the middle of the field, causing the refs to stop the game.
But they skimmed over the top of the players heads and landed in the other end zone.

I was so absorbed with shooting them that I missed a really good run by our team...oops...focus!

Check Out the View
I was sitting on the couch as the sun was setting. At this particular time in the evening a glare comes through our sliding glass door, blinding us from the t.v. I jumped up to pull the blinds closed, when I saw this!
So I grabbed my camera & went outside...
These are the simple moments that make you stop & take notice.
Yes I'm spoiled...beach living makes daily life picturesque.
