Jullien Herrera for Intersection Magazine

Red Models, Jullien Herrera along with Antony Jerram, Patrick Phillips, and Juan Heredia, along with Doug Porter in a 50/60's style shoot for Intersection Magazine shot by Sebastian Mader.

AND...what's not to like, the cars, the hair, the jeans, jackets (clothing by PRPS) add to the tough guy/bad boy vibe of this shoot. I'm loving the cool, Grease inspired feel...yes I was a HUGE Grease/John Travolta fan.

So to say that this is one of my favorites to date is an understatement.

Let's not forget the amazing video below, "Living Proof" taking you back to a simpler time-battling out differences through car races.

Just Because

photo taken: Bridge at Bridal Veil Falls, UT

simply joy

Have you ever done something for someone, just because...something that could make a difference in their life?

I had just such a situation yesterday after church. A single mom needed help. I know the feeling of being alone, sad and not knowing where to turn. Having gone through a time in my life as a single mom raising and supporting three boys on my own has given me the tools to relate to hurting people in a non-judgmental way.

This mom needed that kind of unconditional love. She made some bad choices in her life, lost her children and home because of it and now was seeking to pick her life back up again. I had the knowledge and ability to seek out information that could help change her situation.

The problem is, I can only do so much, the rest will be up to her. Just knowing that I was able to find a reliable, willing contact to guide her towards a change, made my day, my night, my week.

Isn't it strange how doing things for others brings you more fulfillment and joy than anything you could ever receive? It changes things not only for the person, but for ourselves as well.

I don't know if she is taking the steps or not, but I do know that I did. In doing so, I felt different. The difficult things going on in my life didn't matter, for a moment, I was able to show the unconditional love of Christ to someone in need.

I'm going to look for more....JUST BECAUSE situations and so can you.

Plan B

If you read my previous post you know we had tickets for the premier of "Sing Off." We were going to head out to LA right after work...everything was all set UNTIL my husbands old injury flared up.

He was ran over by a car when he was 21 yrs. old. His arm was torn almost completely off. He had to have skin graphs & reconstructive surgery to fix it. The dr.'s told him he would probably never have full use of it again. Well being a young kid, he didn't accept that and decided to do his own style of after hours rehabilitation. He would get drunk and then swing his arm around & move it as much as possible, definitely not the standard method, but it worked & he regained full use.

Fast forward, 24 years later...the cold weather we've been having has made his arm pain unbearable. He went to the chiropractor to try and get some relief before we went to the show. It took way longer than expected. I told him to get ready fast & we'd still try to make it. By the time we left we had only a half hour till the doors opened & it would take us at least 1 1/2 hrs to get there in traffic.

Now we were all dressed up and nowhere to go (sigh).

We decided to go to the $3.00 movie theater by our house and saw the true story "Secretariat." It ended up being a great night...I LOVED THAT MOVIE! My hubby was pleasantly surprised and wants to get it for his dad. You don't have to be a fan of horse racing to enjoy this movie, it's uplifting and encouraging, things we all need at one time or another. Be sure to rent it when it comes out...you wont be disappointed.

Just goes to show you that Plan B can be just as good.

Moral of this post: Be open to change

Headed to "Sing Off"

I was looking through my Goldstar weekly updates (awesome discount site-check it out & sign up for free) to see what good deals I could find on some fun things to do. I came across free tickets for the season 2 premiere tomorrow night of "Sing Off," an accapella singing competition.

I'm the spur of the moment queen & always spring different ideas on my hubby, who is the planning king. Most of my things don't go over well & I have to try to manipulate him into doing what I want, so imagine my surprise when he said yes right away.

So tomorrow after we get off work we will head down to LA for the season premiere starring, host Nick Lachey, and judges Nicole Sherzinger, Ben Folds and Shawn Stockman (Boys II Men).

Check out last years winners-"Nota" singing Jay Sean's song, "Down." Can you imagine-NO INSTRUMENTS...wow! I think it'll be fun...

I hope the talents this good tomorrow night!

Let the Holidays Begin

Having five days off for Thanksgiving was AMAZING! I haven't had that many days off in a row in a long time.

What is it about staying home for the holidays that makes you so lazy? We didn't do much except eat, watch movies, sleep...A LOT, and do absolutely nothing. I guess you never realize how much you need a break until you get one. I was able to finally catch up on my sleep...insomnia seemed to magically disappear during the holiday too.

We went to my in laws house first, tried to limit our portions to be able to eat at my sisters a few hours later. We didn't do a very good job...I was still stuffed by the time we got there.

With tons of leftovers the last few days I've been getting my daily dose of tryptophan from the turkey...which I think has been contributing to my new love of sleep.

Today was my last day off and I slept in till 12:00 pm again...now this is what a holiday is all about!

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Unexpected Flight

While shooting a football game a few weeks back in Newport Beach, CA, I noticed these two ducks just cruising around the field enjoying the warm, sunny day, completely unafraid of the action that was going on around them.

They took off, flying low across the field.

I thought they were going to land in the middle of the field, causing the refs to stop the game.

But they skimmed over the top of the players heads and landed in the other end zone.

I was so absorbed with shooting them that I missed a really good run by our team...oops...focus!

Check Out the View

I was sitting on the couch as the sun was setting. At this particular time in the evening a glare comes through our sliding glass door, blinding us from the t.v. I jumped up to pull the blinds closed, when I saw this!

So I grabbed my camera & went outside...

These are the simple moments that make you stop & take notice.

Yes I'm spoiled...beach living makes daily life picturesque.
