Weekend Wipeout

This has been a crazy, busy week. Let's see, first off Elijah got nominated for Freshman Homecoming Prince. They nominated five boys and five girls...they find out sometime next week who wins. We had two football games back to back yesterday. Elijah had an awesome game and had a key interception at the end of the game. He played both ways (linebacker & tight end). Even though we were winning...they were driving and we were struggling to stop them. The interception kind of took the wind out of their sails. We ended up winning the Freshman and Varsity game against Dana Hills High School.

We had Adam's J.V. game today...he played really good and is getting a lot of playing time at wide receiver and on special teams...they won also. We had a parent/son night last week for the J.V. & Varsity players. They had us walk on the field, the dad's wore their sons away jersey's, which was pretty funny to see some dad's trying to squeeze into it and then suck in their guts trying to look buff and slim. They announced the parents names and then took pictures and the boys handed the mom's a flower.

Tonight we have a birthday party to go to for my bosses 60th birthday. I was going to dye my roots tonight, but I forgot that I threw away my last container and brush. So it looks like I'm going to the party looking ghetto. I also have to go out and find something to wear. I have a closet full of clothes that I hate. I need to stop being such a pack rat and just get rid of them. I don't know why I find it so hard...I always start to go through the stuff and then say, "Oh, I can't get rid of this, I'm sure I will be able to wear it again somewhere." It's a definite problem!

I'm wiped out and my weekends just beginning.

Solerra Fashion Show S/S 2010

Here's Jullien at the Solerra Swimsuit Show...I had to laugh because he's so tall his head is cut off! I'm sure there'll be better one's up later. He wore the old fashioned surfer swim trunks (aka booty shorts!) in animal zebra print.

He definitely didn't inherit his mama's big booty!

He has the Fahrd Fosté Show tomorrow at 4:00 p.m. Then Mon Ari + Book Homme Show on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. He's been a busy boy and of course he's getting sick again! Probably from wearing the skimpy trunks...hahahha.

**Still trying to find pics of the Manuel De La Cruz Show he did...heard that it was an awesome show!

New York Fashion Week Update

New York Fashion week is in full swing. Jullien has walked in three shows so far and has two more next week. He still has other castings for next weeks shows. He had two of his shows today and even closed one of them! WOOHOO! I'm hoping they'll put some up on You Tube. He said that it's funny because it's about five hours of preparation and 3 minutes of walking.

The night before the shows began, they had several parties. Here's a picture of Jullien with his friends (RED MODELS also and soon to be his roommates when he moves to NY in December) at Lord and Taylor "Fashion's Night Out" party (CLICK LINK).

Look at what a good boy he is...everyone else is drinking wine and since he is only 17, he has a water bottle, (mom's always notice these things!) Just assuming it's water of course...LOL!

Wish I was there!

And The Results Are In....

I went to the doctor's yesterday to see if my little accident produced a broken foot. I was so nervous that he was going to start squeezing and pulling on the area when he checked it. But I made sure he didn't...the second he barely touched the swollen bruised area, I scared the hell out of him, I yelled, "Ouch...be careful!" So he left it alone and sent me over for X-Ray's.

To my surprise and delight...IT'S NOT BROKEN! He said that if it continues to hurt after a couple of weeks, I would need to get re-X-Rayed to see if they missed anything. But I think I'm okay, the swelling is way down and I'm able to put some weight on it.

OK, I know what some of you are thinking, "What a big baby...it's not even broken!" Well, read the previous post again and remember, "I HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE A BABY AFTER ALL MY YEARS OF DRAMA!"LOL!

Is It Broken? WARNING GROSS POST!

I'm not sure if it's broken...but it has been a long time since one of my "incidents." When I was single I went through a serious of crazy mishaps, and now I'm at it again...this makes #5!

WARNING KIND OF GROSS!

The First One: I was vacuuming when something shot out of the back of the vacuum and hit my foot. I thought it was a small pebble and never even looked down. My foot started burning and throbbing. I reached down and saw something silver sticking out just below my 2nd & 3rd toe. I tried to pull at it when it began moving deep under the skin about an inch below the initial place it inserted. A picture nail had shot into my foot via the vacuum. After x-rays at the ER to determine if it went into the bone (which it didn't), I endured a VERY painful shot between my toes to remove it. While the doctor joked, "What are the odds of that? That's like winning the lotto or something!"

Like this but not all the way through

2nd One: On a raining day, I had just dropped my kids off at the sitter's and was running late as usual. I was jogging back to my car, when I slipped and fell sideways onto an iron fence. I was hanging half way over the fence with the metal corner stuck in my rib. I had a hard time, but I lifted myself off, wondering if I broke my rib but hurried on to work. Once inside the bank, my boss said, "What happened to you? You have blood all over your shirt." So they drove me to the hospital, nothing was broken just a deep rib bruise and cut.

OUCH!

3rd One: Driving to work, trying to finish putting on my makeup, I had an eyelash curler attached to my lashes. The car in front of me slammed on their brakes, causing me to hit mine. My hand jerked away from my eye in one swift motion, completely ripping off my entire lashes. I screamed in pain, looking into the mirror in horror at my BALD, swollen eyelid! My lashes still perfectly lined up in my eyelash curler. Putting it into my pocket, I arrive at work covering my eye...which by now was almost swollen shut. My boss said, "Oh no, what now?" Everyone was getting used to my "incidents." I reached into my pocket and pulled out the curler with my lashes still attached yelling, "LOOK!" Simultaneously uncovering my hideous, bald eyelid. Everyone started laughing as they grabbed their stomach's and fell to the ground in hysterics. I became an expert at attaching individual false eyelashes until mine grew back.

WORSE THAN THIS & SWOLLEN!

4th One: On a hot summer day I decided to barbecue. It was a gas one, so I hit the button...nothing. I read the instructions which said to hit it three times and try again. As I hit it, a flame shot out, catching my hair and face on fire. I immediately hit my face & hair putting it out quickly. I ran into the house to the mirror, looking at black smudges all over my face. I was pretty lucky, my skin hadn't burned (thank goodness for my thick layer of MAC makeup!) But my eyebrows & eyelashes were white and burned. My waste length blonde hair, singed, and crumbled to the ground as I touched it, crying.

I think you get it....

10 years later.......

AND NUMBER FIVE: This Saturday morning (Labor Day Weekend), I jumped in the shower to get ready for our bike ride down to the beach, lunch & a movie. As I was getting out, I put all my weight on my right foot, missing the bathroom rug. It slipped out from under me, sliding directly into the door. The top of my foot lodging under the door behind the force of all of my weight (picture someone sliding into home plate). The top of my foot took the entire force, stopping only when it couldn't fit any further under the door. It was immediately black & blue & swollen. I haven't been able to put any weight on it.

I called my Dr. who said the ER has a 5 hour wait but I can go to the Hoag Health Center or wait until Tuesday when they're back in the office. I know the health center couldn't take x-ray's and even if they could, a lot of times they can't see a break until the swelling goes down. I've decided to wait until Tuesday. I still can't put weight on it...I think it's probably broken.

I guess I should be thankful I haven't had an "incident" in 10 years, but it's ruined my whole long weekend...WHAT A CLUTZ!

Barely Tears

I dropped my son off this morning, after trying to get a few pics of him getting ready. It didn't go over to well. I guess you're not supposed to take pictures of high school kids cuz they are too grown up and cool for that now. Of course I had to ask for a hug (which is weird cuz he's always been my hugger). Leaned over super quick and gave me the pat on the back hug...I hate those kind.

He's a funny kid, he wore a vest over his T-shirt. He doesn't care what anyone thinks. He has tons of friends, and has always had such a like able personality. I said, "You sure you want to wear the vest?" He's said, "Ya it looks good, I'm gonna wear those blue nerd frames without the lenses in it too!" Me, "NO YOU'RE NOT!" Him, "Ya it's funny mom...everyone laughs." Guess puberty has turned him into the class clown. I hate that puberty stuff, you wake up one morning and go, "Who are you and what have you done with my sweet son?"

Sneakin Some Pictures...

Once I got home I started reading all of your comments and started tearing up again. Thank you guys so much, it meant a lot. I got several offers for Thursday lunch dates, now we just have to find out how to fly you guys over to the OC every week!

After work I had one more massage left on my Mother's Day coupon my hubby got me. So I headed over, not sure of the name of the last person who gave me an AWESOME massage. I told them to just give me somebody that can do a really good deep tissue massage.

It had to be the worst & weakest massage I've ever had! I felt cheated...I needed all my tense, stressed muscle's worked over. Now I know who NOT to ask for...but I hate that I wasted my last one on THAT. I'm too nice though, I still gave a good tip because I always feel bad for them. That would be a hard job.

Can't wait to meet up with all of my new lunch dates...thanks guys!

My Baby Starts High School

Tomorrow is the day I officially have to accept the fact that my baby boy is all grown up...he starts High School. Where has the time gone? It was just yesterday that we were going on bike rides. My chubby lil' Lijey sitting in his bike seat, big blue helmet, high on his head, barely able to fit his big noggin'. Laughing, pointing at all the "burdie's" flying around his chubby hand as he ate his sandwich.

In junior high I still felt a sense of connection with him during our every Thursday lunch days. He would get out of school early and it was our time together. We would take turns picking the lunch spot. Then spend time catching up on all the important things going on in his life. Not that he'd really tell me...but anything you can drag out of a teenager is special.
Elijah's 8th Grade Graduation

Natascha, Adam, Elijah, Josh, Me, Anthony & Dillon (Jullien was in NY)
Last week was my first experience not having anyone to go to "Lunch Day" with. Elijah was at freshman football practice, Jullien was in New York and Josh was working. I felt so alone, I guess I'm getting the beginning feelings of "empty nest" syndrome.

We spent tonight going school clothes shopping and then out to dinner. My stepson Dillon was going to pick him up for me tomorrow, but as we ate Elijah kept saying, "Well if he can't you can take me for my first day of High School." He said it a few more times throughout the night...so I took it as a hint that he really wanted me to drop him off. I had Anthony call Dillon and tell him I'd take Lijey tomorrow.

So I will drop my baby off at 6:30 a.m. (0 period starts at 7:00 a.m.) Saying goodbye to my baby...and our special lunch days. Wow, I never thought I'd take it so hard...I guess it's time to learn to embrace the fact that I will have more time for me again. This will be a new concept because I haven't thought about me since I had my first baby at 21~
