Jullien Herrera/Luke Simon Viral Video

A while back Jullien auditioned for a Viral Video for "Luke Simon Menswear". He was hoping to at least get a small role in it, but to his surprise, he booked the lead.

It was shot by Mark Humphrey/Mark Humphrey Creative, who is a well known photographer/videographer/director/producer (Budweiser Commercials, Guess Jeans -w/Charlize Theron, American Apparel, Snoop Dog, Leonardo DiCaprio)

It was just released so I wanted to share it with you:

He also shot this Lookbook over the Holidays:

Jullien Herrera in Details Magazine

Fotos: Eric Ogden
Styling: Wayne Gross C

I was excited to see my son Julliens pictures in Details Magazine (December 2009 Issue). The new issue features John Mayer on the cover. Jullien is in a photo spread for Lord and Taylor Street Smarts.

He is staying in New York for Thanksgiving. I was sad that he wouldn't be able to come home, but luckily his girlfriend Chelsea, well kind of his girlfriend...they broke up because he lives in New York now but they still act like they're together whenever they see each other. Anyways, Chelsea's dad took the family to New York for Chelsea's birthday on the 23rd & Thanksgiving. It's nice to know that he wont be alone during his first Holiday away.

I hope he will be able to come home for Christmas, but it just depends on his schedule. This is hard to get used to but I'm so proud of him and happy that he is able to experience so much at such a young age.

Life, Kids & Lessons

I was excited to see that one of Jullien's recent photo shoots by photographer David Wang was featured on MODELS.COM (Click Here To Leave a Comment).

When he first was signed with Red Models they put his pictures up and it's cool to see that they are still impressed with him as he continues to grow in his career.

I'm so proud of all my boys...Josh is going to Cosmetology school full time and just passed all his tests and is now getting hands on training in the school's student salon. He is also working part time and paying his way through school by himself. I'm so thankful that he has been able to find something that he enjoys doing. He wants to eventually open up his own Rock n Roll style salon.

Elijah just finished football & had an awesome season. He's feeling a little bored with all the extra time he has on his hands. He didn't want to try out for the school basketball team, he wants to play for the fun recreational league instead. He is just waiting till his second favorite sport starts...Track. He received his first progress report and is getting all A's & 1 B.

I have to laugh...I never thought my two manly, athletic boys would end up in the beauty industry. Life's a funny thing...we come up with all kinds of ideas of what our kids will grow up to be. But all we can really hope for is that they are able to pursue and follow THEIR dreams.

I often thought that I was doing all of the guiding and teaching but as the kids got older I've learned that they are also teaching me life lessons as I grow with them along the way.

I Survived

I made it through graduation...barely! It was so hectic trying to get everything ready. My sister cooked all the food and came over and set it all up for me while we were at the graduation...couldn't have done it without her. The graduation ran over and they changed my son's grad night time from 9 pm to 8 pm which gave him exactly 15 minutes to come in, say hi to everyone and then leave. Come to find out, they told the kids that they had to get there at that time but the bus didn't actually leave until 9:30p.m.!!! I was SO MAD...we had family that came from out of state to see him and only got to visit for 15 min.!

Another little dilemma came when we had the carpet cleaned on Monday and it didn't dry by graduation day, everyone was slipping on the hardwood floor. My dad walked on the carpet and then onto the hardwood floors to walk down the stairs, both feet slipped out from under him and he fell and hit his back and tailbone. He has the largest, blackest bruise I have ever seen. It is covering almost his entire back! He couldn't go golfing on Friday with everyone because it was so sore. I felt SO BAD!

It was a great turnout though, and all in all, everything went smooth. It is so nice having all the family together. I hate that everyone lives so far away.

One more graduation on Thursday for my youngest son, 8th grade graduation...much easier than HS Graduation.

One last thing, I got a surprise yesterday, me and Jullien took some shots of him practicing different posing angles. I sent them to his agent to see if he liked any certain poses/angles and he ended up posting them on his blog. I felt like a real photographer! Check them out RedNYC.Blogspot.

WHY DO I GO TO THAT PLACE!

I'm not sure if any of you find yourselves visiting THAT PLACE? I tend to stop by on special occassions. This weekend was one of those little visits...it was quite a bit shorter than my usual stops. In my younger days the visits would be quite often and a lot longer. I was very good at sneaking around once I was there, trying to avoid the inevitable...staying for WAY too long!

Now that I've gotten a little older, I've figure out when I start to get nervous, anxious or edgy...it's time to grab hold of myself...AND LEAVE IMMEDIATELY! I HATE THAT PLACE!! Well on Sunday while I was getting ready, I felt it start to come on. I pushed the feelings aside and decided to prepare a little before I left so I would be ready. I read and tried to figure out as much information as I could, preparation helps a little.

I grabbed my camera said a little prayer and headed out the door. My initial instinct was to avoid THAT PLACE...I was doing really good, relaxed somewhat prepared...closer and closer, almost there and feeling pretty good. Picked up my husband, we started talking and then it started! I began to get edgy, everything he was saying was bugging me. He was a little startled at my demeanor and said in his gruff Italian, East Coast way, "What's the matter with you?" "Oh be quiet...you're BUGGING ME! I shot back. "WHATEVER...you were fine and now you're out of control," he replied, continuing to stir the pot.

Yep, this is pretty typical for us, when one of us starts...IT'S ON!LOL! We are both feisty, strong willed and hate to be wrong. It's nice to meet your match though, we both tend to be overbearing so it's fun to spar...that's what we like to call it. We've been married for 8 years and together for 10 so I guess it works for us.

Reaching our final destination only intensified the feelings. I need everything to be PERFECT...there it is, I've arrived at that dreaded place...MY SELF DOUBT! I just want it to go away! It's better but still lingers when I want everything to go right. I am the official church photographer...which I LOVE and feel such a sense of satisfaction. But today was baptism day...they were doing it at the beach and wanted great pictures to send with their baptism certificates. I feel pretty confident with my action and spur of the moment shots. But this is a VERY special day! I would be up against direct sunlight...which always makes the subject look dark.

I was hoping there would be a back up camera just in case mine didn't turn out, but there wasn't. I got to the beach and started taking test shots to get it right before the big event. I think they came out okay (could be better, but I'll keep working at it). But why do I have to go THERE all the time? I hate that I am such a perfectionist...it makes me doubt myself constantly...I even start to make excuses and tell people before I get started...just in case it's not good. WHY DO I GO THERE?

Still Alive and Kickin'

I feel like I haven't posted in FOREVER! Like I said, "I'VE BEEN SWAMPED!" My middle son, Jullien is in Hawaii for their first Varsity game (boo hoo for me, yes I cried cuz I wanted to be there). He left on Monday...game's on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. I talked to him yesterday and he said he's having fun, but it was CRAZY hot...they are not used to heat above 80. Then they went to some cliffs and the boys started jumping off a 50 foot cliff into the ocean. All my boys and me are afraid of heights...soooo I asked, "What did you do?" He said, "I was the last one left standing up there and everyone was yelling at me to jump. I backed away from the edge and took a running leap off the cliff." How does that saying go, "If your friends told you to jump off a cliff would you?" I now know the answer...LOL! He said he was so scared and felt like he was falling FOREVER!! He even did it a second time...peer pressure...football players can't be wooseys!!

Elijah had his scrimmage game, he played running back, quarterback and linebacker, they won! Anyways, that's why I haven't posted in a while, I was editing the pictures and putting them into an album to send out to all the parents. The things I get myself into...it's VERY time consuming, but a few of the parents said, "THANK YOU, WE LOVE THEM!" I guess it's worth it. The more I practice the better I get, right?

Our church had a picnic so I took my camera and took some pictures...I wasn't very happy with the way they turned out, now I don't want to forward it to them because they will think, "Thanks but no thanks! Why is it that the pictures that you really want to turn out good, look terrible? I'll send it to them and attach a few pictures of other shots i've taken that were good, just to let them know that I don't always take such terrible pictures! Oh well, guess you can't get better unless you make mistakes.

Here's a link to my Football album...just click "View Now" and then you can play a slideshow because there's A LOT of pictures, we are in all white...those are just practice jersey's (it was the first scrimmage) our real uniforms are Green Bay Packer colors...
