Lately...My Stuff

I haven't been able to update as frequently as I would like to. With high school football in full swing and all of my action shots to edit & send out weekly to the team, AND this crazy pinched nerve in my shoulder/neck (which seems to get worse when I type), I've fallen a little short lately.

Just a quick update:

We had our team luncheon & Varsity game last night which are usually on Fridays & it made it really hard to go to work today. My mind kept saying, "Varsity Football game=SATURDAY tomorrow! Anyways we won by 6 pts (27-21)...and it went down to the wire, which didn't help my pinched nerve because I act like I'm the one out there playing, leaning, screaming, stressing, yeah I'm a little crazy when it comes to football!

At the luncheon the coach was talking about how mom's always tell their kids, "You played good honey," & dad's will pull them off to the side & tell them the truth. Well not in my house! My poor boys get the truth from me. Not in a mean way, but after they've cooled off a little, I'll say, "What happened? You missed that tackle. You need to keep your head up, watch their hips (that tells what direction they're going to run). Or if they missed a pass, "Honey, remember catch the ball before you run!" This is a problem that you'll see even pros do.

Today, my son Elijah has his JV game. He's a sophmore & one of only a few that actually gets to play in the Varsity games too on special teams.

Our school is a huge powerhouse football school!

So today my text message to him was, "FUMBLES, FUMBLES, FUMBLES...be sure to be hitting hard & cause fumbles like you always used to (he's a linebacker)! Oh yeah & CATCH the ball before you run (he plays wide receiver on offense-the guy who catches the passes for those of you non football fans)!"

I'll let ya know how it goes...wish him luck!

A Golfing Mishap

Anthony went golfing today to try out his new golf clubs and he took Adam with him. Adam is new to golfing, but is pretty athletic and a quick learner. Anthony was getting ready to take a shot, swinging his club back over his head, the club swooshed through the air, striking the ball with exact precision. A split second later the ball hit him directly in the neck! He grabbed his neck, looking around, thinking that his ball must have hit a tree and ricocheted back pounding his neck. He yelled, "What the HECK!" spotting the ball next to his feet.

Adam was almost on the ground holding his stomach, laughing till his eyes started to tear up. Anthony swung at the ball...that angry, hurt, and frustrated type of swing. Of course he missed it and then decided to kick it to release some of the pain in his neck. He finally realized that Adam had been directly behind him hitting his ball too. However the ball curved and hit Anthony...a clean perfect shot! He yelled, "You're done with this hole...get outta here!"

I wish I had been there to catch it all on camera...can you imagine what a prized possession that would be! LOL!

Wouldn't Ya Know It!

Today was my first day back to work after my "isolation" last week with my son in the hospital. My neck was KILLING me all day...don't worry it's not meningitis, it's something much worse......OLD AGE! Sleeping on those hospital chair/foldout beds has my neck so messed up.

Driving home from work I remembered that my wonderful husband gave me a gift certificate to my favorite massage therapy place. I was thinking about it the whole way home from work as I kept reaching back to massage the huge lumps lining my vertebrae trying to ease my throbbing headache.

I picked up Elijah from school, drove a little too fast trying to get home to change and head over to get some relief. Elijah chatted away (he's actually excited to be back at school after his hospital stay). In the hospital one day he told me, "Mom, I'm tired of "OLD PEOPLE" conversation, I need to talk to my friends." "What are you talking about...I'm a young, cool mom!" I quickly shot back a little hurt that he thinks I'm old AND boring! "Well sorry but you are old now and we've spent to much time together this week," he replied with a smirk trying to make it seem like a joke. "Whatever Lije, you should be happy your not staying here all alone, and I know I'm a fun mom so you can't fool me!" He is a smart boy and left it at that.

Now where was I? Did I mention that I only got four hours of sleep last night? I'm out of my calcium magnesium, which is a natural cure to help you sleep, along with my neck pain. Okay sorry, I'm all over the place today!

So I get home check my e-mails change into my comfortable clothes, jump in the car and head over already visualizing how I will fall asleep during the massage and kill two birds with one stone. I go inside and see two ladies in front of me, "Sorry we are running a little behind can you come back at five?" says the man behind the counter. I'm a little worried...I don't have an appt. and for some reason they seem to be really busy. I ask him if he has any openings. "No, not today, we started running specials, 1 hr. massage for $20.00 on Tuesdays if you bring a friend. We have been really booked up." I YIGH YIGH...wouldn't ya know it!

Moving Out

Today we moved our office from the big luxury suite with a putting green inside the boss's office to the downstairs cramped, small office. We are in the Commercial Real Estate Development business...in other words, the "down size" immediately business. We have really slowed down so it's time to cut back on the luxuries. Thank goodness my position isn't considered a luxury yet.

My boss's hired some people to come and help us out, but of course me and Marsha both were hauling big boxes up and down the stairs too. I'm sooo out of shape right now, and my neck/shoulders always hurt (yes, I know I'm old!). But I couldn't believe how quick the soreness set in. At about 1:45 I went on a lunch run to Subway. I turn my head to back out of the parking spot...immediate pain, I could hardly turn my neck. Then driving along, I go to make a lane change, same thing...OUCH!

Can you imagine how bad I'm going to feel tomorrow if I'm already sore? Maybe this will kick me in the butt to start working out (hahaha). At least I can still make jokes.
