Monday Monday

During the weekend, it always seems like Monday is looming over me like a dark cloud. Today I decided to embrace my Monday. Yes I have to go to work, but on a positive note, I don't have to be there until 10:00 a.m. I got to sleep in and with the time change I feel pretty good.

On Monday's I work for a bookkeeper (I'm an Independent Contractor), then I work for a Commercial Real Estate Development Co. the rest of the week. Today me and my two bosses (the bookkeeper & office mgr. at the Real Estate Co.) are going to see the new Michael Jackson movie "This Is It." I think from now on instead of thinking, "Monday again!" I'm going to try and figure out something fun to look forward to every Monday. I wonder if this will work?

DON'T SOOSH ME!

Do you ever have those weekends that are so busy, you feel like you never even had one? That's how mine was...so now it's only Tuesday and I'm wiped out!

It felt like a Monday. My boss had a huge project that I had to complete today (which I normally love because I like a challenge and when I'm busy the day fly's by). The problem was, I had to use his computer to do it. So, he left for the gym (he works out every day at 10:30 & then heads to lunch & doesn't get back until 2:00 p.m).

No problem, I knew I could get it done in that time frame. Well, it was soooo time consuming, but I finished it 15 minutes before he got back. Then he decided he wanted things to look different than he had previously said. I changed several pictures/layouts and made all the copies to get ready for their presentation.

We were on a time crunch and I was running out of time. He kept asking me, "How's it coming? Is it ready? I need that stuff!" I was stressing and some of the pictures weren't printing. Every time I tried to tell him he would say, "SHHHH...just hand it to me!"

I was still printing, but gave it to him and thought, "OK, I'll just add the extra pictures in as they come out." He yelled, "What are you still printing? I'm trying to put these all together, I thought they were all here." I tried to tell him what was happening, when he sooshed me AGAIN! I'm sorry but that is a HUGE pet peeve...I can't stand to be sooshed. I think it's SO RUDE!

Then I heard him say from the other room, "I can't do anything because SOMEONE'S on MY computer."

WHAT...Are you kidding me? It wasn't my choice to be on his computer, he didn't want to forward it to me and told me too.

I do pretty well to hold my tongue at work (unlike home when my husband tries to shoosh me.) But the problem with holding it in...I feel like I'm going to explode or cry! So I said, "You asked me a question and I'm trying to answer you." I don't think it came out super rude, but I think he knew I was mad. I was completely quiet after that. He tried to make a few light joking comments, but I wasn't in the mood. He told me thank you as I was leaving, but I was mad.

I left work 45 minutes late and felt like screaming! Once inside my car I could feel myself tearing up from holding in my anger. I hate to cry...I feel so weak. So instead of totally breaking down, I decided to rant and rave to all of you.

I hate days like this.........

Time Change

Monday's are always hard, but today I could barely keep my eyes open. The time change has stolen an hour away from me that I'll never get back! I want it, I need it...I have insomnia and every minute is needed to help me make it through the day.

This morning when my alarm went off, it was still dark outside. Who gets up and goes to work when it's still DARK OUT? Oh yeah...ME! I have to admit that I love when it's summer and it stays light late, but getting used to this is hard.

My kids even looked like little zombies when I picked them up from school today. Hopefully it's a little easier tomorrow.

Friday-I Survived

After Thursday's incident I wasn't looking forward to Friday. I think that has to be a first, who doesn't look forward to Friday? I pulled into the parking lot and didn't see my boss's car. He must've had a meeting this morning, I thought with a quick sigh of relief. I hurried up the stairs (I'm always running late...it's a HUGE problem for me.) I took a deep breath, opened the door and silence. I asked Marsha, "Where is everybody?" Oh, one of them is headed up to Mammoth and the other one is sick today. Whew...now I only have to deal with the phone calls (much easier than getting ridiculed in person.)

I asked her if he said anything more about the whole box thing, and she said, "He said that he had looked in that office the day before too and never saw the box, either." Hmmm, at least he admitted to something.

He called in and was being really nice.
Boss: Hey, what are you doing?
Me: Oh you know...me and Marsha are just sitting here getting ready to smoke a big fatty and then try to find some more boxes." I couldn't resist...I had to say something because it had bugged me so much that he made me seem like a moron on drugs.

Boss: Excuse me?
Me: Yep...just getting ready to smoke out.

Boss: (Laughing)...Ooohhh okay you girls have fun and whatever you have to do to feel better is fine with me.
Me: (smiling) Okay...let me get Marsha for you.

I usually try to joke about situations when something is tense and uncomfortable. It just seems like making light of everything always makes the situation seem less stressful. It is something I only do in work situations though, at home, everybody just GETS IT from my mouth! But, since I don't want to get fired...I always hold back at work.

Now I'm looking forward to a relaxing, sleep filled (keep your fingers crossed) weekend.

SURE

One of the owner's of the company I work for loves to play a game with my boss. Whenever he asks, "Lisa can you do me a favor?" He likes me to say, "SURE!" Then he looks at my boss, "See Marsh, that's how you're supposed to answer!" So it's this on going little game that just cracks him up and Marsha plays along and acts disgusted. This goes on at least once a day...sometimes more.

I got to thinking about that simple, one word answer...S U R E. Why would that one little word make him so happy? I thought about how often we are put in difficult situations, forced to get a new job, move to a new home or step outside of our comfort zone, what if you always responded with...SURE. No second guessing, worrying, doubting...just SURE! What if you knew that you HAD to say SURE! Do you think you would face your fears and conquer them? Would you climb that mountain, chase that dream, overcome that pain from the past, trust God's plan and purpose for your life?

Think about it, a small word but packed with a lot of power. This is a word that the dictionary describes as:

Sure: (1) confident in what one thinks or knows (2) having a certain prospect or confident anticipation of (3) certain to do something (4) true beyond any doubt

When you are faced with a difficult situation, try saying this strong word...S U R E! Once you say it, you somehow feel more optimistic, positive, and confident. Can you do it? S URE you can!!!

"And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive."

Bloggerception...

Bloggerception is real and you probably have it too! I used to go through my day on auto pilot. Wake up, shower, throw my makeup on, pull my hair back (if I'm feeling extra spunky, curl it). Grab a quick bowl of oatmeal, eat standing at the sink, toss the bowl in the sink and run out the door. Drive to work, making a mental checklist of all the things that I needed to do. Halfway to work wondering how I got to the freeway, I don't even remember the drive there. Hope I didn't run any red lights...DEFINITE auto pilot! Work, go home, run the kids around, make dinner, sleep and start all over again. That was BEFORE I entered the Blogosphere.

My days are completely different now! I wake up and immediately start to think, "Hmm, what can I Blog about today. I get in the shower, making a mental note of any mishaps, slipping, tripping, no soap, shampoo etc. Everything is a potential story. Putting on my makeup can also be interesting, depending on what happens. Eating and running out the door can be a whole adventure that might be funny. Yes my BLOGGERCEPTION is on HIGH ALERT. Driving to work is no longer, "Who am I and how did I get here?" It's all about stalking, staring and watching everyone and everything...you never want to miss that perfect story (i.e. the guy with the parrots on his fingers as he drove to work).

Yes, before Bloggerception I would have missed this! My perception has increased, making me feel ALIVE, I am no longer, robot lady. Work also is a great adventure, never missing a single thing (and I am not a detail orientated person). Kids, hubby, friends, sisters, parents...no one is off limits to my Bloggerception.

WARNING: You do it, I'll notice, be very careful or you WILL end up a VERY INTERESTING, AMUSING, JUICY little story in my Blogosphere world!!

WHAT THE ????

I woke up late AGAIN...which means the usual mad morning rush, trying to get my bible study in (definitely helps me get through the day). A few little floor mat exercises, leg lifts, sit ups, more leg and butt stuff, finished by a few stretches for my CONSTANT neck pain. This is how I justify not going to the gym. Then I wonder why I'm getting so jiggly...but do I ever make time for the gym...nooooo, I'd rather complain and keep doing what I'm doing.

Slap on some make-up, throw my hair in a pony, put on an outfit...nope, I look fat, toss it on the chair piled with the mound of outfits that have also been discarded this week. Grab the famous stand by outfit (hmmm, did I wear this already this week, I don't think so, it'll have to do.) I grab a quick bowl of instant oatmeal, scarf it down, start to run out the door with the bowl, oops back upstairs, throw it in the sink. Whew...finally out the door, (bare with me I WILL get to the main point of the story).

I attach the phone ear piece, did I mention I HATE THIS THING! We couldn't afford the fancy wireless ones, so my husband got the kind with the cord that you clip to your collar and NO ONE can hear me so I drive holding the mouth piece close to my mouth, yelling (wait, I could be holding my phone instead...I hate this new Hands Free Law). Driving along in silence, dodeedodeedo, I wish I was home, I need a vacation, I'm driving too fast...remember DRIVE SLOW save gas, what do I need to do today after work, cancel Josh's gym membership, pay credit card...yay, no games, I'm going to take a nap (my radio broke, thus the silence, but my head keeps going nonstop).

I pull up to a light a couple of blocks from work and something catches my eye. I look over into the black, shiny, freshly waxed, brand new black Lexus...WHAT THE ????

There they were, glowing in the darkened window of the car, red, green, and yellow, two of them perfectly perched on each finger of the driver. Two LARGE parrots, sitting happily on the guys two first fingers. He was talking away, don't know if it was to the birds or if he had a wireless earpiece in his ear, but he was blabbing away, very animated. I just kept staring, is this for real or has my insomnia finally pushed me over the deep end? I felt like I should rub my eyes, wipe my glasses and look again. He looked over, feeling my stare, gave a look like, "What are you staring at?" The light changed, he put both hands on the steering wheel with his first two fingers pointed straight out like guns, the birds happily looking out the window, off he drove in his business shirt and tie and his two companions...just another day at the office in Newport Beach, CA. Can you say E C C E N T R I C?

Message to self: MUST GET MORE SLEEP!!!

Life Struggles

Today I woke up with a feeling of heaviness. I couldn't quite figure out why, but I just felt kind of down. I started to think about it and then I realized, all of our bills are due and we can't pay them. It is so frustrating to always be behind. My poor husband is working 7 days a week now and picking up evening side work...and we get further behind. I have increased my hours at work and still it's a constant struggle.

My car was due for a smog check and new tags, we took it in and it didn't pass!! So, $560.00 later my car finally passed. Even though it has been a stressful day right from the beginning, I'm trying to stay positive. My car now runs better, the check engine light is off, and hopefully I will get better gas mileage (that's a big hope!)

We are going to head down to the beach to walk Allie so hopefully, watching the sunset, hearing the crashing calmness of the waves and walking will further brighten our mood. I have been trying this positive attitude thing...trying to be grateful for things I DO HAVE, it usually works, so wish me luck as I head to the beach. My next blog should be a little more cheerful...with some beach pictures!

Here are some pictures from our last walk...makes me happy.
